The Millionaire Habits You Should Be Following

I was thinking the other day about how we all have habits, good and bad, that help to define us and shape our daily life. Then I started to wonder if there were certain habits that can have an effect on your wealth. Once I started doing some research, reading quotes, and listening to some of the top earners in the world speak, I started to see some common traits and habits that they all have. Could it be that changing your daily habits can make you successful? Try out these daily habits and see if any of them work for you!

They Get Up Earlier

Wake up early every day so that while others are still dreaming, you can make your dreams come true. -Hal Elrod

Have you ever wondered why successful people get up earlier in the day than everyone else? The main reason is that you have more time to get things accomplished. I’ve noticed that when I wake up bright and early, clean the house, run my errands etc., I am able to do the things that I want to do, instead of only finding time to do the things I have to do. The other nice thing about waking up early, especially if you get up around 4 a.m., is that the rest of the world is asleep. I find when it is that early there are no distractions, so I can focus on writing blog posts, and building my site.

They Read More Books

Reading is still the main way that I both learn new things and test my understanding. -Bill Gates

If you ask me, I have learned more about business from reading books that are written by successful people, than I ever did when I was in college. Just because your schooling is over, doesn’t mean that the quest for knowledge stops. As an entrepreneur, or anyone looking to achieve success, the amount of knowledge you have on the subject is important. Even Bill Gates, one of the worlds richest men, reads books to help him learn more about how the world and business work. So if you want to be successful, start reading, learning, and striving to better yourself.

They Exercise Frequently

“Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional, and mental states.” -Carol Welch

Healthy body, healthy mind. There are a million reasons that I can think of as to why you should work out, but I’ll try to stick to the important ones. Working out releases endorphins, which help you to feel positive. I have noticed that after a workout I am more motivated for the rest of the day. Also, when you are working out you have time to brainstorm, and think about what you need to do with your business, or your life, to make it better. Financially, if you are healthy you will likely spend less money on hospital visits which can help you to save money. Finally, we all want to be successful so that we can have money to enjoy ourselves. The healthier you are, the more time you will have to enjoy that well earned money!

They Have More Than One Income Stream

“If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.” -Warren Buffet

Ever heard someone say “Don’t keep all of your eggs in one basket”? That saying is relevant to your income as well. Most millionaires have multiple streams of income, meaning that if one of them goes south, they still have other incomes they can fall back on. If you want to be successful, start diversifying your portfolio.

They Create Their Own Wealth

“A big business starts small.” -Richard Branson

Although there are definitely millionaires out there that have earned it by working for a company, most of the super wealthy people out there have made their own money. These are entrepreneurs like Mark Cuban, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg etc. If you really want to be successful, and have control over your life, you should strongly consider starting a business of your own!

They Don’t Waste Their Money

“Waste neither time nor money, but make the best use of both.” -Benjamin Franklin

If you want to be rich, start by not acting like you are. This is all too common. The social media influencers who are bragging about their expensive trips or their new car, may look rich, but they are not doing anything to better their financial situations. Millionaires and other successful people buy appreciating assets, aka things that will make them more money, and they don’t waste their money on trying to look rich. People know they are rich, so they have no need to show it.

They Don’t Give Up

“Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.” -Jack Ma

No matter what happens, successful people don’t ever give up. Some of them had multiple failed businesses before they figured out the one that worked for them. The world of business is a hard world to find your way in, so the only thing that you can control is your effort and your perseverance. You have to stick with it, even on the days where you don’t feel like it is working. If you don’t give up, good things will happen.

I enjoy learning more about successful entrepreneurs because it helps give me an idea of what they do and have done to build their success. I hope that this post has made you think about whether or not you can adapt some of the same habits as them. We are not all naturally going to be born with these habits, but that doesn’t mean we can’t work on instilling them into our daily lives.
